Microsoft 365 Services Fully Restored Following Extended Outage: Updates and Resolutions

Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) announced on Monday that it has successfully restored its online services after experiencing an outage that affected a significant number of users utilizing its 365 software suite, including Teams and Outlook, for over two hours.

At its peak, the outage resulted in access issues for approximately 18,000 users of Microsoft's productivity software, including Word and Excel. However, the number gradually decreased to 906 by approximately 12:57 p.m. ET, as reported by Downdetector.com, a platform that monitors internet outages.

"We are pleased to confirm that we have resolved the issue that temporarily hindered users' access to some of our services," stated a Microsoft spokesperson.

Initially, Microsoft acknowledged the outage while investigating difficulties in accessing Outlook on the web. Subsequently, it was revealed that Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for business were also affected.

To rectify the situation, Microsoft executed a rollback of a system update, effectively resolving the outage. However, specific details regarding the root cause of the incident were not disclosed.

Numerous users expressed their frustrations on Twitter, sharing their firsthand experiences of the disruptions caused by the outage.

This marks the third occurrence of service disruptions for Microsoft this year, underscoring the challenges faced by the company in maintaining uninterrupted service reliability.
